PNCA Illustration's Annual Exhibition
Thursday, 07 April 2011
PNCA Illustration is one the newest and most rapidly growing BFA programs in the country. Students come to experience PNCA and Portland's art culture, where technical, theoretical, entrepreneurial, and social creativity blend in unique and potent ways. The department's annual juried exhibition opened tonight, showcasing around 4 dozen new pieces of student work chosen from hundreds of submissions, a creative cream drawn from thousands of images created during the past school year. From that small number, the show's jury awarded a gold, silver and bronze medal, (Congratulations to Morgaine Hendricks-Casey, August Lipp, and Adrianna Vawdrey) with five other pieces winning honorable mentions. Thanks to all of the students in this department for not only displaying passion and excellence in great image making, but also for their commitment to gift each other and the broader community with illustrations that (increasingly) deepen, expand, and enliven our vision of each other and the world.
The show runs through April 23. If you are in Portland, stop by and check it out. (Contact the studio for gallery hours)
