Body Vox

A couple of years ago I watched a dancer from Portland's Body Vox troupe perform solo on stage. The dance was designed around fluid movements of her torso, arms and hands, while her feet for the most part, remained positioned in the same area on the floor. The subtle, nuanced movements were stunning. I contacted the dancer and asked if I could photograph the dance routine in order to create some drawings. She agreed, and I did a few experiments. The first image took on a 1960's fashion illustration vibe that I kind of liked. I returned to the series this summer and have included the original image (red background), and 3 recent ones.
